Il Messico figura ai primi posti tra i luoghi con i migliori resort al mondo. Quasi sempre all inclusive e molti solo per adulti. L’offerta tutto incluso è prestigiosa: migliori chef e migliore attenzione e cura del cliente. Io ne sono entusiasta. Partiamo per Playa del Carmen l’ultima settimana di febbraio, pare sia il periodo migliore. Prenoto con i Grandi Viaggi. Non lo rifarei, nonostante il personale del tour operator sia stato davvero impeccabile.
Volo diretto Milano Malpensa – Cancun. Scopro, salendo a bordo che si tratta di un aereo per gnomi, letteralmente. Lo spazio è veramente ridotto. Gli unici comodi possono essere i bambini. Saranno le undici ore più lunghe della mia vita. Un supplizio. La compagnia aerea è Neos e mi chiedo come sia possibile che un tour operator di prestigio possa far volare i suoi clienti così. In ogni caso, arriviamo a Cancun che ci sono più di trentacinque gradi, abbiamo lasciato il gelo a Firenze. Dal momento in cui atterriamo, i ragazzi e io, siamo accolti in modo molto professionale ed efficiente dal personale dei Grandi Viaggi. L’Azul Five Resort è uno splendido hotel di lusso sulla spiaggia con nove ristoranti eccellenti, sei bar e una splendida natura che ci avvolge calorosamente.
L’elemento che più cattura l’attenzione di Francesco ed Eleonora è la quantità di scimmie ragno – molto carine a dispetto del nome – che ci vengono incontro, la mattina, alla ricerca di banane. Tutte le mattine appena si svegliano, la prima domanda dei ragazzi sarà: ci saranno oggi le scimmie? Oltre a stare sulla bianca spiaggia e fare il bagno, mangiare negli splendidi ristoranti a tema dell’ hotel, dal sushi all’italiano e partecipare alle serate animate da spettacoli, Playa del Carmen offre la possibilità di vedere le rovine Maya, e molte altre attrazioni, molto comodamente. In un giorno, dalla mattina alla sera, si possono visitare:
- I moltissimi cenotes, grotte che si sono formate nel tempo. Noi abbiamo visitato quelli aperti che sembrano dei piccoli laghi con acqua cristallina. Davvero suggestivi. I cenotes sono luoghi sacri, nella cultura Maya. Rappresentano una porta di contatto con gli dei e con la spiritualità. In passato venivano praticati sacrifici umani in omaggio alle divinità. A dispetto di questo è meraviglioso farci il bagno. Cenote Azul, Cenote cristallino.
- Le rovine Maya di Tulum, si affacciano sul mare dei Caraibi e sono davvero magnifiche.
- Cobà è un sito Maya molto rilevante. Il divertimento è però prendere a noleggio delle biciclette o farsi portare dai ragazzi messicani su dei simil risciò all’interno della giungla che conduce alla vera attrazione, ovvero la piramide. Non capirò mai perché le persone si ostinino a fare, provare, faticare, a mio parere inutilmente. Vedo i turisti, di tutte le età, salire su questa antichissima piramide, ripida e alta all’inverosimile, tanto che molti per la paura di cadere scendono non in posizione eretta bensì con il proprio deretano. Noi ci siamo fermati al terzo scalino!
- La riserva naturale di Siam Kan. Anche con un taxi è possibile attraversare la biosfera, ed è stato magnifico. Forse l’esperienza più entusiasmante. Un vero paradiso naturale, con molte specie animali, per lo più uccelli e tartarughe. Ci sono poi alberghi e ristoranti sulla spiaggia davvero carini, tutti nel più totale rispetto della natura. Avremmo molto da imparare.
- Fare il bagno con i delfini. Dolphins Scaret. Farsi baciare sulla guancia da un delfino, abbracciarlo, nuotarci insieme, dargli da mangiare. È stata decisamente un’esperienza speciale per noi. Molto bella, molto comoda, molto consigliata!

Mexico is one of first place among the locations with the best Resorts in the world. Resorts are almost always all inclusive and many just for adults. The all-inclusive offer is a very high standard: the best chef and the best customer care. I’m excited about it.
We fly for Playa del Carmen in February. Booked with Grandi Viaggi. I would not recomend it, despite the tour operator’s staff being really impeccable.
Direct flight Milan Malpensa – Cancun. I find out, boarding that it’s a gnome plane. Space is really reduced. It will be 11 hours longer than my life. A torture. The airline is Neos and I wonder how it is possible that a prestigious tour operator can fly its customers like this. We arrive in Cancun and it Was very hot, we left the frost in Florence. Kids and me are greeted in a very professional and efficient way by the staff of Grandi Viaggi. Azul Five Resort is a gorgeous luxury beach hotel with 9 excellent restaurants, 6 bars and a beautiful nature that enchants us warmly.
The element that more captures the attention of Francesco and Eleonora is the amount of spider monkeys, very pretty in spite of the name, who meet us in the morning looking for bananas. Every morning as soon as they wake up, the first question for kids will be: will there be monkeys today?Staying on the white beach and having a swim, eating in the wonderful theme restaurants of the hotel, from sushi to Italian and taking part in animated shows by singers or performances, Play del Carmen offers the chance to see the Mayan ruins, and many other attractions, very comfortably. In one day, from morning till night, you can visit:
- The many cenotes, caves that have formed over time. We visited the open ones that look like small lakes with crystal clear water. Really impressive. Cenotes are sacred places in the Mayan culture. They represent a door to contact with gods and spirituality. In the past human sacrifices were made to ingratiate gods. In spite of this it is wonderful to swim. Cenote azul, clearly cenote.
- Mayan Ruins of Tulum, overlook the Caribbean Sea and are truly magnificent.
- Cobà is a very important Maya site. But fun is hiring bicycles or getting Mexican guys on rickshaws inside the jungle that leads to the true attraction, or the pyramid. I will never understand why people stubbornly make, try, labor, unnecessarily in my opinion. I see the tourists of all ages to climb this ancient pyramid, steep and high to the unbelievable, so that many, by the fear of falling, come down not in their upright position, but with their seats … We stopped at the third step!
- Siam Kan Nature Reserve. Crossing, you can do it with a taxi, the biosphere, was magnificent. Maybe the most exciting experience. A true natural paradise, with many species of animals, mostly birds and turtles. There are really nice beach hotels and restaurants, all in total respect to nature. We would have a lot to learn.
- Swim with dolphins. Dolphins Scaret. Kissing on a cheek from a dolphin, hugging him, swimming together, giving him food. It was an experience for kids and for me, really special. So beautiful, so comfortable, so suggested!
